This is a new generation of ZX6R, the Kawasaki ZX636 was totally re-designed to offer the most versatile supersport yet. It's increase in engine capacity not only aids toward the admirable horsepower figures but has boosted mid range power and torque allowing the ZX636 to deliver everything that road riding demands of it.

If you thought that the last ZX6R was an excellent package, the new ZX636 will open your eyes to the huge advance that the combination of the new aluminium frame and all new separate function - big piston forks have offered.

Kawasaki have worked hard to take all of the previously excellent characteristics of the ZX6R and not only improve them but have added to them too.

Brakes - not only are they now monoblock calipers but they are ABS AND are linked between the ABS ECU and the bikes ECU to allow for electronic assistance that little by little helps to apply more and more pressure progressively. This offers eye popping stopping power that gives the rider the greatest of confidence in this new machine.

Clutch - not only is the clutch much lighter at the lever than before but also has a slipper function to avoid rear wheel lockup during high rpm down shifts.

Having increased the power of the ZX636 considerably, Kawasaki quite sensibly decided to offer 2 power mode options. (1) - Full Power and (2) 80% power with softer throttle response. This combined with the 3 level Kawasaki traction control system that has already been tried, tested and highly approved on the ZX10R superbike has ended up giving us the best of its class.

PERFORMANCE - AGILITY - SAFETY - CONFIDENCE - COMFORT - QUALITY - EASE OF USE Never before could all of these terms apply any bike in the supersport category.

Kawasaki ZX636 Features
KIBS is a multi-sensing system, using input from numerous sources. In addition to front and rear wheel speed sensors, KIBS also monitors front caliper hydraulic pressure along with other information from the engine ECU (throttle position, engine speed, clutch actuation and gear position). Showa Separate Function Forfkand Big Piston Forks, this next generation fork offers both race performance and everyday usability. Preload and damping (rebound and compression) are separated, facilitating setup. All the adjusters are located at the top of the fork tubes: preload on the left; compression and rebound damping on the right.

Radial mounted monobloc calipers deliver a firmer feel at the lever for enhanced control. Larger 310 mm petal disc brakes and a radial master cylinder complete the front brake package, ensuring powerful braking with excellent feel. 220 mm petal disc brake and lighter caliper slow the rear.

The Race-developed perimeter frame is the key to the Ninja ZX-6R’s superb balance of flickable handling, mid-corner stability and an ability to change lines on command, coupled with excellent chassis feedback. New FCC Assist & Slipper clutch was developed based on racetracks feedback. The new clutch uses two types of cams, an assist cam that makes the clutch much lighter at the lever and a slipper cam.

The Advantage offered by the new Ninja ZX-6R's 37cm3 displacement increase is significant . Enhanced performance across the rpm range is only too evident and offers increased usability for everyday use.

Spring rates and damping settings chosen to maximise performance on winding roads in a wide range of situations. This new chassis offers much greater stability on corner entry. The dash gives an at a glance information to the rider. Analogue-style tachometer,multi-function LCD screen. Functions include KTRC, Power Mode and the Economical Riding Indicator. Large numerical gear position indicator gives instant information to the rider.

A choice of Full Power or Low Power modes allows riders to set power delivery to suit conditions. Low power mode limits output to approximately 80 %of Full Power and uses a milder throttle response. Power Mode can also be controlled from the left grip.

Riding position ideal for sport riding and puts riders instantly at ease. Tank, seat and rear frame offer good contact with the bike for enhanced rider feedback.
Seat is short front-to-back, allowing the rider to rest his tailbone on the rear seat step, further contributing to the excellent feedback the rider gets from the chassis.
Larger volume silencer helps reduce noise levels. Its triangular cross-section enables the requisite volume while ensuring a high lean angle and a compact image.
Exhaust pre-chamber helps minimise silencer volume, contributing to mass centralization.

The KTRC system on the new Ninja ZX-6R combines the best elements of Kawasaki's two traction control systems, S-KTRC and KTRC. Three modes cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering from enhanced sport riding performance to the peace of mind to negotiate slippery surfaces with confidence.
