motorcycle Servicing, MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS
We at Seastar offer motorcycle servicing on all makes and models of bikes. It is important to note however that if a bike is under 2 years old and is still under manufacturers warranty we recommend that the machine should be serviced by a company that holds a franchise for that particular make of motorcycle.
Motorcycle Servicing on New Machines
All new Kawasaki's sold need a first service between 6-800 miles. This service is simply an oil & filter change, but all importantly a nut and bolt check. We charge for the oil filter and the oil and in most cases approx 1.5 hrs in labour.
Call on 01508 471919 or email us for a guide to times and charges for the time or mileage related service for your machine.
In order to maintain manufacturers warranty, the service schedule for each machine MUST be strictly adhered to. The warranty and backup service offered by Kawasaki and Ducati are excellent, however if a machine is not maintained, they will understandably not stand by it.
Motorcycle Servicing on Used Machines
All of our used motorcycles are sold with a 12 month Mechanical Breakdown Cover. Again, in order to maintain this warranty, servicing schedules must be adhered to. If they are not, the decision as to whether or not cover is valid lays with the Warranty underwriters. Not with Seastar Superbikes.
As a norm, most bikes have 3500 miles or 4800 Km service intervals (or 6 monthly - which ever comes sooner)
What is included
With all of our fixed rate motorcycle servicing schedules we include the cost of spark plugs. In many cases it is the manufacturers recommendation that these are simply checked and cleaned. With the experience that we have had with running our Dyno, it is a fact that a visual check on these parts actually means little or nothing. We therefore have taken the approach that as a schedule of preventative maintenance, we simply replace these as a service item.
Dependent on mileage, valve clearances may need to be checked. We allow an extra 2 hours to check these, but cannot quote for adjustment until we are aware of what needs to be adjusted.
Additional costs involved if adjustments are required can be up to a further 2 hours and will in the case of shim adjusted valves bear an additional cost of parts, eg. £6 per shim.
Seastar's workshop labour rates are £60.00 + VAT per hour.
Seastar has 2 Dynojet rolling roads. A Dyno 200 and a Dyno 250.
A detailed nderstanding of nearly all makes of motorcycle (We admit we still haven't run a Frances Barnett on the road yet!). We also have PowerCommander software for use with fuel injected machines.
